Flying over Valley Park, Missouri. It seems like whenever I see the Pelicans flying over, it's in Valley Park. Maybe because of the Meremac River being right there!
I was riding in the bed of a pickup truck at the bird sanctuary, and she was right over my head. She starts screaming at me, and I jerked around so quickly I almost threw myself right off the truck! Outstanding bird, though!
It was funny, because I had just come out of a bird sanctuary program, when I heard and saw these two.
In a marsh field in Iowa. Beautiful birds. I was glad that I could ID them from a Great-blue from the highway ;)
It was just sitting on a power line in Iowa. It was funny, the order on the power line went Starling, Starling, Bobwhite, Kestrel. HA!
This is an vocal sighting. I didn't REALLY see it, but I finally "tuned in" to the outdoors at the right time!!
I was at a family reunion in Iowa, and they all flew around in the fields! They were as thick as bats in the sky! I'm using my "birders estimate" skills here to determine how many there were. I know there were a little more than 15, so I'll put it as 17
The Chestnut-sided that was being chased by the Black-and-white. That was funny!

At Riverlands. A fantastic birding hotspot. I'm going back there soon hopefully! This guy was chasing around a Chestnut-sided. Funny little creatures.
Obviously this one was high in a tree. I caught a glimpse of his tail, and then kept following him when he was flying!
This bird was singing around a bunch of trees, and I didn't see him until I had just about given up!
Large male foraging on the ground. This is one of the birds that I saw on my census of the bird sanctuary
Another male (I got lucky!). He was perched really high in a tree. Such a gorgeous bird.
Another one of my night walks. I was walking through the woods, and I heard one off in the distance. I quickly walked over to it, and it stayed perfectly still for me to admire! One beautiful specimen!
These were verbal sightings. I did catch a glimps at one of them though! :)
Flew overhead while I was flying a Harris Hawk. Beautiful bird, and amazing aerobatics!
