Black-capped Chickadee
I found this nest this morning under a blue spruce tree that chickadees frequented all summer...a chickadee nest, perhaps? It is made mostly of dried grasses, some small twigs, lint, and some mystery bits. It is ~10 cm in diameter and contains small whitish shell fragments. I think the wind blew it out last night.

One very wet-looking robin flying through the rain this morning, south of the U of A hospital. I haven't seen a robin since late July, so that was a pleasant surprise. I wonder where all his/her compatriots are...south already?
