-do these birds have a "preferred" song or call that would enable you to identify them by audio? I know that they love to mimic and suspect that hearing a collection of familiar "other" bird" sounds might prompt a person to identify the target as a mockingbird! :o))

lol ... I just identify them visually. Have seen and heard them imitating Blue Jays, Crows, Catbirds, etc. Spectacular mimics! :D

Have seen/heard Mockingbirds singing up a storm too.
