-I always enjoy reviewing the usual characteristics that define specimens as a Cooper's or a Sharpie; the following link is quite helpful and also reminds us that it can be difficult to tell them apart:(http://www.birds.cornell.edu/pfw/AboutBirdsandFeeding/accipiterphoto.htm -using the 6" fence boards and applying it to the bird, while guessing the tail length, puts it at about 39-50cm/15-20"= ( Crow size/ Cooper's); -juvenile horizontal breast barring and head area is in transition (juvenile/ adult molt), making separation difficult; -more barrel- chested, than shoulder- wide= (Cooper's); -head proportional size is larger= (Cooper's) -legs look a little heavier= (Cooper's)
