Jim, you were right: as this sequence of photos shows (& I wish I could keep them in order here), this fellow did come up with a solution!! My husband watched, laughing and taking pictures, as this magpie tried over and over until it got at the suet feeder and held on - tho' it swung wildly - until it had its fill - or else got too tired!.
