thanks Jim - have you seen them around here before? I havn't..... you would think I would have heard that sound at least once before in the years I've been here! I'm going back to the area where I saw it right now - see if it's still there or not. :-) Joanne

Very nice! I know I've not seen one in Edmonton yet, though I discovered (by looking at my Geobirds sightings, no less), that I had seen on in Alberta...near Calgary.

neat - I dont' trust range-maps anymore (with the house-finches and all - ha ha!) ..... I've found varying range maps. Some say that catbirds are not and are never here, some say they are. When I submitted here it said common(low numbers). Low numbers for sure I'd say! Joanne

-the only Catbird that I've seen was many eons ago, when we used to visit my late uncle's lake cottage at Gull Lake; I was about 12 years old, heard it deep in a stand of deciduous trees and with much caution, finally saw it as you did, when you took your shot! For a minute, I felt like I was 12 years old again! :o))

It was really really a neat sight (and sound!!). Havn't seen one since - it was in the Laurier off-leash park. Joanne
